MBA
If you really want to find out what it’s like to work at J.P. Morgan, work at J.P. Morgan.
If you are studying towards an MBA, there are a few things we know about you without actually having had the pleasure of meeting you. We know that you’re ambitious. We know that you’re at the top of your game academically. We know that you take your work seriously. And we know that you’ve taken the time and money to invest in your future.
And, you probably know a fair bit about us, too – who we are, what we do, and how important a summer internship can be for your future. Chances are you also know people who have participated in our summer program and who will subsequently be joining us full-time. They've already told you that their summer of hands-on experience at J.P. Morgan drove their decision to join our firm. And you probably know that we fill most of our full-time positions from our pool of Summer Associates. So isn’t it about time we got to know one another better?
There’s no better place to spend a summer internship than at J.P. Morgan. We’ll take the skills and theory you’ve learned from your MBA and transfer them to the real world. You’ll enjoy real responsibilities from day one, and will be working with many of the finest people in the industry. Which is exactly what we expect you to become in the not-too-distant future.
Get to know us
Of course, any decision about your future won’t just depend on how well you take to the many work challenges you’ll face. As much as anything, it will be defined by how well you like us as people. Over the course of your internship, you’ll experience many lively social events, and have every opportunity to develop a network of new friends and future colleagues – as well as making yourself known to senior management.
Your future career is a big decision. For you, and for us. A summer internship can help ensure we all make the right one.
The recruiting process
We take recruiting Summer Associates seriously. We view you as the future of our firm and want to choose well to ensure that you will be with us for a long time. We will come to campus several times in the fall to make presentations, introduce speakers and host dinners. You will learn about J.P. Morgan, our culture and our people. If you believe there's a fit and you would like to be a Summer Associate, submit your résumé by the deadline (usually in early December; check with your campus career office to confirm the deadline for your school).
The first and second round interviews take place on campus in January and early February, usually with two J.P. Morgan representatives from the area you're interested in joining: Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, Research or Private Banking. The second interview will follow quickly thereafter (depending on your school’s policy, it may even be later on the same day).
If you make the cut, we'll make you an offer and invite you to New York for a placement visit. You will meet with bankers from the groups in which you have expressed interested, and will hear about placement within specific group(s) within two weeks.
