Things to know before you apply
Working at J.P. Morgan is exciting, challenging and creative, and professional fulfillment among our people is high. We work in a team environment and give our Analysts the training and tools they need to succeed.
But a career with us also demands a great deal of time, energy and commitment. It's important to understand that up front. So why do we love it? Because it's exhilarating to help clients make things happen, and to be involved in global markets and multinational enterprises. And it's satisfying to develop innovative solutions to evolving corporate challenges with a team of top-notch people. We recognize that J.P. Morgan's continued success hinges on hiring extraordinary people who are similarly motivated, and who are hungry for a long-term commitment to a challenging career. If that describes you, read on.
What we look for
We have stringent requirements, including exceptional academic qualifications, an aptitude for numbers and a strong interest in finance. Personality fit is key, and so are independence, maturity, drive, initiative, and integrity.
Because diversity of thought and approach is important, we recruit from all disciplines. Of course, a strong quantitative aptitude is essential, and we welcome liberal arts students as well as those who study information technology, economics, finance, mathematics, engineering, and more.
Other qualifications we look for include:
- Excellent academic performance
- Exceptional communications skills
- The presence and confidence to work with senior people
- Demonstrated ability to flourish in a team environment
- Fluency in English, although a second (or even third) language can be an advantage
Get to know us at our campus events

Our campus events and social events provide a clear overview of the industry, our firm and the opportunities available to you. Most importantly, all events will give you a chance to chat with our colleagues, who will give you the inside scoop on what it's like to work at J.P. Morgan.
We urge you to attend as many of these events as possible, and meet as many of our people as you can. They will not only give you a fuller view of what the firm has to offer, you'll discover whether the culture is a fit. And, when it comes time to interview, our people are more likely to remember you!
Check out our online campus schedule or your campus careers office for information about presentations, résumé drop deadlines, and our interview process. Not only do we come to you quite often, but we offer several programs in which you can come to our offices. Read more about how to apply for Winning Women and Launching Leaders events.
When to use an email application?
Unfortunately, rules are rules. And, we only accept email applications from students whose schools we don't visit. If we visit your campus, you must apply through your school's specific process - via your careers center's rules. To determine if we will be at your campus, check our online campus schedule.
Of course, it's not possible to visit every campus, so if we're not coming to yours, you can submit an email application form between September 15 and September 30 to apply to select programs. Applications for summer internships can be submitted between January 1 and January 15. Please note that, due to the volume of online résumés we receive, you will receive only an automated acknowledgment of receipt on the screen unless we contact you for an interview.
