Private Bank
We don't just know who our clients are. We get to know them.
Sound exciting? We think so. Both the continued growth of the Private Bank and the top-notch training you'll receive are extraordinary. As a Private Bank Analyst, you'll be part of the three-year graduate program that will prepare you for the next level. We assure you - there's a lot to learn. In fact, you'll find these three years to be both challenging and rewarding. And, you’ll be a vital member of the team.

The magnitude of an Analyst’s job
As part of one of our integrated client or investment solutions team, you'll assume more responsibility, work with clients and liaise with senior management on an increasingly greater level. You will become comfortable speaking to clients about our entire range of investment and brokerage products. On a day-to-day basis, your role will be to help acquire new clients and service existing ones. To this end, you'll use sophisticated, proprietary asset allocation, wealth projection, and concentrated stock and option decision tools, and you’ll also conduct market and product research.
Responsibility from the start
As a Private Bank Analyst, you may find yourself working on one of the following teams:
- Integrated Teams are comprised of bankers, global investment specialists, wealth advisors, and capital advisors, who work with clients directly throughout the day. Analysts in this group support the members of the integrated team, who are responsible for bringing in new business, servicing current clients with customized financial strategies, explaining strategy and products to clients, and managing relationships. Global investment specialists help clients construct their portfolios and directly trade securities in accounts and also monitor the accounts on a daily basis, while meeting their investment goals and guidelines.
- Investment Solutions Teams work with global product specialists in our market strategy, alternative investments, fixed income, and equity groups - to name a few. As an Analyst, you will conduct research and analysis, monitor macroeconomic developments, work on how the model portfolios will implement the team's views, assist with product development and respond to inquiries from clients and professionals within the Private Bank.
Our Private Bank Analysts support teams in various locations across the US, including New York, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Palm Beach, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. For placement on a US-based Latin American team, you should possess relevant language skills and cultural knowledge.
Training and development
The first five weeks of the training program are designed to give you a broad knowledge-base of the Private Bank and Asset Management. You'll be immersed in the Private Bank's business strategy, structure and values, and will become proficient in using our proprietary tools, models and systems. The final week of training will provide you with role-specific training that helps prepare you to effectively work with your team.
You will also have a mentor, a more experienced J.P. Morgan Private Bank employee, who will help ensure your professional progress continues and will help steer you toward development opportunities that suit your long-term career interests.
After the three year program, Analysts may be promoted to Associate and move into more senior roles within the J.P. Morgan Private Bank.
What we look for
You don't have to be a mathematical genius to join us. We're looking for people who are inquisitive, analytical and focused. You'll need to demonstrate a passion for the world of private banking, demonstrate a desire to be a team player, and be able to use both qualitative and quantitative tools to analyze complex financial situations. You should also have excellent communication skills, as well as the initiative, energy and confidence to complete projects with limited supervision. Judgment and discretion in working with highly confidential information are also critical. For placement on a US-based Latin American team, relevant language skills and cultural knowledge are essential. All candidates should have a minimum GPA of 3.2.
We recruit students from many backgrounds - but an aptitude for numbers is a must. If you don't have a strong financial or business background, be sure you can tell your story; be able to demonstrate your quantitative aptitude both scholastically (SATs, coursework) and practically (former jobs, for example) and be ready to articulate how your background will enhance your career at J.P. Morgan (you'll find out more in our Advice Center under not a business major).

The most successful route to a career with J.P. Morgan's Private Bank business is through our Private Bank summer internship program, for two reasons. First, it will give you the opportunity to see what it's really like to work in the Private Bank; and second, we hire as many of our full-time analysts as possible from the summer program.
