About Private Wealth Management

Private Wealth Management at J.P. Morgan is a national wealth management leader that delivers the highest quality advice, service, capabilities and products to high net worth individuals and families across the United States. We deliver highly customized and tailored solutions to help clients grow wealth across generations, while managing the many complexities they face by leveraging all of the capabilities of the firm.

Private Wealth Management addresses every facet of wealth management from investment management, to tax and estate planning, credit, and specialty wealth advisory services.

The magnitude of an Analyst's job

As a Private Wealth Management Analyst, you’ll support an integrated team where you will work with bankers, investors, fiduciary advisors and wealth managers to support a group of clients. Depending on your role, you will help devise customized financial strategies for existing or prospective clients, become an expert in a range of proprietary models, conduct research and analysis, and assist with meeting customer needs. You will make a valuable contribution to a team providing integrated delivery of financial solutions

Integrated Team Analysts work with our bankers, investment specialists, fiduciary advisors and wealth planning experts to bring in new clients and to serve existing clients by creating customized financial strategies. You will become knowledgeable about asset allocation, wealth projection, trust and stock option models, underwriting tools and pricing models, and become comfortable speaking to clients about our entire range of financial solutions.

Our people help bring global solutions to regional areas. Placements are based in various cities, including Arizona, Illinois, Michigan, New York, and Texas. As your experience increases, there may be a need to relocate Analysts beyond the initial hiring locations. Flexibility regarding location is a requirement.

Training and development

The initial weeks of training will engage you in our business strategy, structure, and values. You'll also become increasingly proficient with our different proprietary tools, models and systems. J.P. Morgan professionals will take you through an in-depth study of the financial services industry and an overview of that particular line of business. And, a dedicated program manager will work closely with you, monitoring your development and guiding you toward the opportunities that best suit your long-term career interests.

After the program

If you’re a high-performing Analyst, you will be given the opportunity to remain with the firm in a broader capacity after the successful completion of the Analyst program, as determined by the management team. Opportunities for promotion within Private Wealth Management are based on our business needs and your performance.

What we look for

Because Private Wealth Management Analysts work so closely with clients and colleagues, outstanding interpersonal, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills are a must. We also look for an entrepreneurial spirit mixed with a strong work ethic and desire to constantly learn. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are important too, as well as the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines and exceed client expectations. Candidates should have a minimum GPA of 3.2.

We recruit students from many backgrounds - but an aptitude for numbers is a must. If you don't have a strong financial or business background, be sure you can tell your story; be able to demonstrate your quantitative aptitude both scholastically (SATs, coursework) and practically (former jobs, for example) and be ready to articulate how your background will enhance your career at J.P. Morgan (you'll find out more tips in our Advice Center under not a business major).

How to apply

For more information, read before you apply. It will give you detailed information and direct you to useful links related to your application. You may also want to visit our interview process and check with your campus careers office or our campus schedule to see when we'll be visiting.

The most successful route to a career with J.P. Morgan's Private Wealth Management business is through our summer internship program, for two reasons. First, it will give you the opportunity to see what it's really like to work in Private Wealth Management; and second, we hire as many of our full-time Analysts as possible from the summer program.
