A day at the beach

When it all gets to be too much, go to the beach!  Options include Coney Island in Brooklyn (ride the famous roller coaster), Brighton Beach, Jones Beach or the Hamptons, on the east end of Long Island, where many young and not-so-young people share summer rentals. Many people love to visit Fire Island and the Jersey Shore; both aren't too far for a weekend trip. Or do what thousands of New Yorkers do: bring a folding chair and a cold glass of something up to the roof of your apartment building.
