Something to take pride in

Oct. 04, 2007: J.P. Morgan’s PRIDE receives award during ceremony in London.

J.P. Morgan’s PRIDE networking group has done it again! It has been recognized for its achievements within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community for raising awareness about the business case for sustaining an inclusive workplace.

Tim Hailes, chairman of PRIDE London, and Christopher Greaves recently accepted the “Award for Commerce” during The Gay & Lesbian Awards (G&LA’s) held in London. The category recognized PRIDE’s role in introducing the firm’s senior managers to the key issues that affect their gay and lesbian employees. In addition, the firm was recognized for its contribution to business and society in general by creating its own network within the work place and by increasing awareness of gay and lesbian issues.

The Gay & Lesbian Awards (G&LA’s) are a new concept aimed at celebrating achievements and successes of notable individuals from the gay and lesbian community in the U.K. and recognizing their contribution to society as a whole.

Over the past year, J.P. Morgan PRIDE in the U.K. has been acknowledged for best practice by civil rights organization Stonewall for its innovative poster campaign ("Let's get one thing straight…” and "The only gay in the City?”) which ran across all the firm’s London offices.

The leadership and membership of PRIDE have also been instrumental in J.P. Morgan’s significant financial support for the “Stonewall Education for All” campaign to combat homophobic bullying in British schools. They also hosted a seminar for partners at City law firms to share best practices regarding the equal treatment for LGBT employees.
